Golden Rum Cake

By

"My family requests this rummy Bundt cake from me at all our get-togethers. The butter rum glaze makes it special. An easy way to glaze your cake is to pour half of the glaze into Bundt pan, reinsert cake, then pour the rest of glaze over the bottom of the cake. Let absorb well then invert back onto platter."

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan. Sprinkle chopped nuts evenly over the bottom of the pan.

In a large bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Mix in the eggs, 1/2 cup water, oil and 1/2 cup rum. Blend well. Pour batter over chopped nuts in the pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Let sit for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto serving plate. Brush glaze over top and sides. Allow cake to absorb glaze and repeat until all glaze is used.

To make the glaze:
In a saucepan, combine butter, 1/4 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat and continue to boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup rum.

Wow! Great, EASY recipe! I omitted the nuts as I wasn't sure if everyone could eat them and used Coconut Rum for subtle flavor. I did cook the glaze with the rum for 1 minute so it didn't taste too much like alcohol. Everyone loved it!!

I made two of these for a party and was a major hit I used pecans instead of walnuts and was very tasty.Love it

This is a keeper! It wasn't too wet and not too much rum. It was a perfect recipe. I did leave off the nuts because of fickle eaters.

Wonderful recipe!! I used Captain Morgan's in the cake and Myers in the glaze.

Amazing! Most of the time I forget to put the walnuts in because I'm so excited to make it! Everyone asks me for the recipe but, I have yet to share it. I'd rather them go on thinking I worked so hard to make this cake! I use any kind of rum for the cake part and a more expensive rum for the glaze. It does make a difference for the flavor.

Truly delicious and so easy!

This is my first time baking with booze where the booze actually makes it into the batter -- and I must say it went really well! I used Captain Morgan's Tattoo rum, which smelled incredible. It also gave it a lot of warmth and sweetness. It's definitely a mixer rum, which is why I picked it. Plus, who can resist the Captain? He's a pretty charming, good looking pirate! Overall, it turned out great!!! I would definitely make this again, and I probably will. Though, the only note I'd make is to cut the glaze recipe in half, because that's all I needed to really soak into the cake.

Delicious and very easy. Looks a lot more difficult to make than it actually is. Love it!

Great recipe! I used 1/4 of a cup of rum for the glaze and it was still too much. I would recommend making it a day ahead so the rum can soak through the cake before serving.
