Blueberry Granita

By

A delicious, refreshing dessert. No ice cream maker needed.

Tips from the Test Kitchen
Very blueberry flavor; not too sweet; lemon makes it refreshing. Fine texture; melts pleasingly on the tongue. Some patience is required to strain the berries after they are blended, but this is an easy dessert to make ahead for a casual dinner party. Froze it overnight. Shaved the surface in both directions and used a large spoon to scoop the granita into bowls. Small, white bowls are a pretty contrast to the deep blue color of the granita. Could garnish with a strand of lemon zest and a blueberry to make it fancy.— Relish Recipe Tester Carolyn Zichterman

What an easy and delicious treat. Great for kids in the summer. As a healthy, very low calorie alternative, try your favorite sugar substitute, as this ice is packed with vitamins and tastes so good. — Relish Recipe Tester Marilyn Heenan

I served the granita in a crystal glass, and it was beautiful. I added a dollop of whipped cream with some lemon zest on it. Perfect. Everyone raved about the taste. They loved the spark of lemon in it. It took a little time to scrape it out, but it was a very nice texture. Some of the seeds still came through the sieve, but we all agreed that we liked that. — Relish Recipe Tester Jane Robshaw
