Ingredients
- 12 oz granulated sugar (1 ½ cups)
- 1 lb 4 oz shortening or butter
- 1/4 oz salt (I can’t remember what I used for this, maybe 1/4 or 1/2 tsp…..don’t remember)
- 1/4 cup or (2 oz) egg white
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 lb 14 oz pastry flour (sift)

Step 1
Color: Green, red, yellow, and white to make rolls.
Mix coloring into four section of dough color, roll in long snake-like rolls, twist and press four long rolls together, and refrigerate. You might want to make two or three big rolls…..can’t remember how that works.
After 4 colored dough is formed into one big roll, best to roll in colored (red/green) decorator sugar (or finely chopped nuts) before slicing and placing on baking sheets. The colored sugar is a “must” to make a nice, sparkly, finished edge to the cookie.
400 degrees—8 to 10 minutes
