Ingredients
- 1 bag navy beans, soaked overnight
- 1 largeham bone
- 1 medium ham, cubed
- 1 stickmargarine
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into bite size pieces
- 1 stalk celery, cut in quarters
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 8 quarts water

Preparation
Step 1
Soak the beans in water overnight (1/2 the bag). In a large pot, boil the 8 quarts of water. In another pot, add chopped onions, margarine stick and ham bone and cook, but DO NOT brown the onions. Once done, add onions, ham bone and melted margarine to boiling water. Let pot re-boil and add beans, salt and pepper. Boil until the beans are soft. Cut celery and potatoes into bite six pieces and add to the pot. Cut the ham to same portion size and add to the pot. Let soup simmer for one hour at low heat.
