Ingredients

  • 1 pound round or shoulder steak
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon instant minced onion
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine

Preparation

Step 1

Trim fat from steak and freeze slightly for easier slicing; cut steak into thin strips.

In large skillet, heat oil; brown steak strips on both sides.

Add remaining ingredients; cover and cook slowly for about 1 hour or until tender, adding little more wine as liquid cooks out. When sauce is fairly thick, steak should be tender.

Notes:

Serve on rolls or over rice or noodles. To heat up recipe bit, you can add cumin, Creole seasoning, or garlic powder.
