Homemade Mac & Cheese

By

I’ve been making this recipe for years and it never fails to please even the most loyal blue-box lovers. I usually make it a meal by adding smoked sausage (kielbasa) and frozen peas before baking. Change it up with different cheeses!

Preparation

Step 1

Cook macaroni according to package directions, drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, cook onions in butter or margarine until tender. Stir in flour and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add milk and whisk until blended. Add Worcestershire sauce, and cook until bubbly, whisking frequently. Add cheese and stir until melted.

Combine cheese mixture with cooked macaroni and stir to combine. Pour into a casserole dish and bake in a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.

This is good topped with some buttered crumbs (Panko is especially crispy and good!)
