Ingredients

  • DIP CHOCOLATE:
  • 1 pound butter,(2 cups melted)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, do not sift
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons orange extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon salt(critical)
  • 4 1/4 cups flour, do not sift, just level
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar(put in a small bowl for later)
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • melt in microwave oven 90 seconds, stir heat to melt if not melted, do 20 seconds at a time.

Step 1

Melt the butter in a microwave for 3 min. on my, add the sugars to the butter, mix well. Let cool. Place on Counter and leave to cool for room temperature. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the extract and all the other ingredients up to the salt, mix all well. Then add flour in small amounts at a time. Chill the dough, one hour or overnight. Preheat oven 325°, roll the dough in balls 1 inch thick. Take the dough balls place in sugar and roll put on the cookie sheet and flatten with the greased spatula. Bake in 325° oven for 10 to 15 min. tinge of gold will be at the ends. Cool on wire rack. Lay pieces of waxed paper.. Dip half of the cookie, in the chocolate. Place on wax paper, to harden. Yields 10 dozen cookies.
