Donvier - Basic Vanilla Ice Cream
By Addie
We thought we would publish these recipes for those of you that still have your Donvier Ice Cream Maker but lost the recipe book. We don't have ours anymore, but we happened to come across the recipe book the other day. Hope it's useful to some of you!
MY NOTES: Make half of this recipe and use it to make TWO batches in my Half-Pint Donvier Ice Cream Maker. This would be a great base for many kinds of ice cream add-ins.

(VARIATIONS BELOW)
...............................
Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream:
Use the Basic Vanilla Recipe above and add 1/2 tsp. mint extract and 1/2 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips (or shaved chocolate). It is optional if you want to add a few drops of green food coloring.
Butter Pecan:
Beat 1 Tablespoon softened or melted (cooled) butter in with egg and sugar until completely blended. Let "age" overnight in refrigerator. Freeze in Donvier Ice Cream Maker and when almost finished, add pecans.
Rum Raisin:
Soak 2 Tablespoons raisins in 2 Tablespoons rum for 30 minutes. Chop raisins, then return to rum to continue soaking. Add to ice cream toward the middle of the freezing process.
Coffee:
Increase sugar to 1/2 cup. Dissolve 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee in smallest possible amount of very warm water. Cool and add to ice cream base.
Kahlua and Cream:
Add 4 Tablespoons Kahlua to ice cream base midway through the freezing process.
