Preparation
Step 1
Cookies:
Preheat the oven to 325º.
Mix together butter and sugar until creamy. Add milk, eggs and vanilla. Mix together and then add the blended dry ingredients and mix well.
Place the dough in the refrigerator from 2 to 24 hours (at least until cold and firm). Roll out and cut into your favorite shapes. Use an ungreased cookie sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes on top or bottom rack and then switch to the opposite rack for another 5 minutes. (or 7 mins. for a crisper cookie)
Frosting:
In a bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat sugar, warm water and meringue powder until blended and mixture is so stiff that a knife drawn through it leaves a clean cut path, about 5 minutes.
If you wish, tint frosting with food coloring as desired; keep covered with plastic wrap to prevent drying out. You may thin out with a few drops of water at a time until you reach the desired consistency for spreading or piping frosting.
