Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Step 1
Make dough in bread machine on DOUGH cycle. When cycle is done, remove dough from machine and form into a football-shaped loaf.
Cover and let rise until doubled. Cut length-wise slit in top, if desired. Brush with an egg wash, if desired or during the last ten minutes or so of baking, brush crust with butter for a golden color.
Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes on bread stone, spritzing with water for a crisp crust, if desired.
You can also shape the dough into a round loaf called a boule or into 2 small long skinny baguettes.
For dinner rolls, bake 15-20 minutes.
You can also make individual baguettes for sandwiches.
