Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. shortening
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2-1 cup lukewarm water
  • (Or just use phyllo pastry!!!)
  • 5 tbsp. melted butter
  • 4-5 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Step 1

Sift flour and salt together. Cut in 2 tbsp. shortening and add eggs and water. Knead well, then throw against a board until it blisters. Stand dough in a warm place under a cloth for 20 mins. Dust counter with flour. Roll dough out to 1/8" thickness, then until it is paper thin. Brush dough with melted butter and sprinkle with a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and sliced apples. Fold in outer edges of the dough and roll up like a jelly roll. Bake in 350F oven for 30-40 mins.
