Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 c Amish Friendship Bread Starter
  • 1 c oil (or 1/2 c oil and 1/2 c applesauce)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large box (or 2 small boxes) instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 c nuts and/or raisins and/or chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (some double this)

Step 1

In a bowl, mix the starter, oil, eggs, milk and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, pudding, nuts and/or raisins and/or chocolate chips, 2 teaspons cinnamon and baking soda. Add the bowl of dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix thoroughly. Prepare three loaf pans by greasing inside and coating with a mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Fill loaf pans with equal amounts of batter. Sprinkle extra cinnamon on top of loaves. Bake at 325 degrees for about 50 to 60 minutes. You can freeze or refrigerate the cooled loaves, if desired.
