  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Carnation Original Malted Milk powder
  • CHOCOLATE MALT BUTTERCREAM INGREDIENTS
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup Carnation Original Malted Milk Powder
  • 2 TBS cocoa powder
  • 3 TBS milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup WHOPPERS candy crushed for garnish

Step 1

The first part of these cupcakes is the easy part. Just prepare either a homemade or boxed chocolate cake mix and add in the cup of malted milk powder and mix well.

Bake for 18 minutes at 350 degrees F. Oven times may vary. To be on the safe side, check your cupcakes with a toothpick at 16 minutes.

While the chocolate malt cupcakes are cooling, let’s get to the fun part of making the chocolate malt buttercream.

Simply combine all of the ingredients, pipe onto cooled cupcakes, garnish with crushed candy and top with a whole WHOPPERS malted milk ball.
