NaNa’s Top Secret Teriyaki Marinade

By

OK – I promised to share my NaNa’s top secret teriyaki marinade recipe ,and I always keep my word. :) NaNa and my mom lived in Hawaii in the fifties, and NaNa got this recipe from a friend during her time there. Seriously, this is the best teriyaki I have ever had and it works with anything! I have used this on chicken, salmon, steaks, pork tenderloin, ribs, etc. You simply can’t go wrong.

Serve this along with grilled veggies and pasta salad or fruit salad and you are fine dining, my friends. Trust me!

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients and pour over beef, pork, chicken, or seafood. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. Remove meat from marinade before cooking. (Excellent on the grill!)

Variations: For more of an Asian flair, add ½ -1 teaspoon five spice powder. It will completely change the taste, but I like to switch things up every now and then.

Skewer cubes of marinated meat or poultry alternating with pineapple, red onion, mushroom, and green peppers. Broil or grill until meat is cooked and edges are beginning to char.

Caution! Any time you marinate raw meat, poultry, or seafood, you must bring the marinade to a boil and simmer for five minutes (to kill any bacteria) before using to spoon over the cooked product (or rice, veggies, etc.).
