  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cups beer

  • Seasoned flour:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons paprkia
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Creamy Chili Sauce:
  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cut 3/4 inch off of top of onion and peel. Cutting each into 12-16 vertical wedges without cutting all the way through. Remove about 1 inch of petals from the center of each onion.

2. Make batter by whisking cornstarch, flour, garlic, paprika, salt, pepper. Gradually add beer and whisk well.

3. Make seasoned flour.

5. Heat oil to 375 degrees. Coat onions with seasoned flour, shake off excess, dip onion in beer batter, carefully lower onion root side down, into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
