Ingredients
- 4 strips bacon, diced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/3 c. dry lentils
- 1 1/3 c. water
- 2 T. ketchup
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. dried red pepper flakes
- 1-16 oz can diced tomatoes with liquid
- 1-15 oz can pinto benas, drained
- 1-16 oz can kidney beans, drained

Step 1
Lightly fry bacon in a heavy 3-quart saucepan; do not drain. Add onion; cook until transparent. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat for 45 minutes or until lentils are tender, stirring occasionally.
