Grandma Min's Meat Loaf

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 cup cracker crumbs
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup grated onion
- 1/2 teaspoon sage
- 1 scant teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Soak the bread crumbs in the milk. Add the ground beef, eggs, onion and seasonings; mix well. Form the meat mixture into a loaf and place in a loaf pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes. Spread topping on meatloaf and bake for 15 more minutes.
TOPPING: (optional)
1/4 cup ketchup
2 Tbsps brown sugar
1 tsp ground mustard
1/2 tsp Worchestershire Sauce
Mix all and spread on meatloaf during the last 15 minutes of cooking.

This is great with Turnip Mashed Potatoes:
Make a batch of fresh mashed potatoes, adding cooked turnip when mashing. Be sure and add warm butter and milk. This combination is absolutely delicious!
OR Carrot Smashed Potatoes: Microwave some little red poatoes and carrots. Smash with a potato masher,adding warm milk and butter. Top with salt and pepper! Yummy. Don't mash TOO finely because this is great a little lumpy!
