Ingredients
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 (12-ounce) HALF-FULL can diet lemon-lime soda
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 whole (3-1/2-pound) chicken, skin removed

Preparation
Step 1
Remove top oven rack. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add barbecue sauce to half-full can soda.
In small bowl, combine basil, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; mix well and rub evenly over chicken.
Place cavity of chicken over soda can so that chicken is sitting on can, then place can on rimmed baking sheet. Bake 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours, or until no pink remains and juices run clear.
Cut chicken into serving-sized pieces and carefully pour remaining sauce from can over chicken.
