Preparation

Step 1

Unroll and separate crescent roll dough into triangles. Wrap each piece of apple in a crescent roll. Arrange in a greased 8x8" baking pan; sprinkle with cinnamon. Combine butter, sugar and orange juice in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over dumplings; sprinkle pecans over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until crust is golden and beginning to bubble. To serve, spoon some of the syrup from the baking pan over dumplings. Serve with ice cream, if desired. Serves 8.

Scoops of ice cream are perfect alongside warm apple dumplings, cobblers and pies. To make them ahead of time, simply scoop servings and arrange on a baking sheet, then pop into the freezer. Wehn frozen, store scoops in a freezer bag, then remove as many as needed at dessert time.
