Nancy's Spicy Cheese Bread

By

MY NOTES: I love this cheese bread for toast! It's the closest I've ever been able to get to the cheese bread my mother used to buy when I was a kid...even to the orange color!

  • 3 tsps sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps salt

  • 1 1/2 tsps dry mustard (I omitted this and just added some hot sauce)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Place all ingredients in bread machine and set machine to DOUGH CYCLE.
Check after five minutes or so to see if dough needs any additional flour or water.

2. When DOUGH cycle ends, punch dough down gently. Shape into a loaf for my Hearth Rye Bread Pan which makes very pretty shaped sliuces for toast - or shape into a free-form loaf.

3. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes, then tend with foil to prevent over-rowning of the crust.Bake 20-25 more minutes or until temperature in center of bread registers 190 degrees on an instant read thermometer.

4. Remove from pan (if using) and cool on wire rack.
