Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb mild Italian sausages, casings removed (about 3 sausages from a 19-oz package)
  • 1 pouch (9 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ fire roasted tomato cooking sauce
  • 1 can refrigerated classic pizza crust
  • 1/2 cup shredded Italian cheese blend (2 oz)

Preparation

Step 1

1 Heat oven to 425°F. Spray 16 regular-size muffin cups with cooking spray.

2 In 10-inch skillet, cook sausages over medium-high heat 6 to 7 minutes, breaking up and stirring occasionally, until no longer pink; drain. Stir in cooking sauce; set aside.

3 Meanwhile, unroll dough on work surface. Cut into 16 equal pieces. Place 1 in each muffin cup, pressing firmly in bottom and up side near edges. Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons meat mixture in each cup; top with slightly less than 2 teaspoons cheese.

4 Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until edges are deep golden brown. Run knife around edges to remove from muffin cups.
Don't care for Italian sausage? Try substituting mini pepperoni, or go meatless and add some chopped green bell pepper, onion and mushroom.

Muffin cup sizes vary--older varieties tend to be more shallow and hold less, while newer varieties tend to be sized more generously. Try to use a more generously sized muffin cup to accommodate the pizza fillings.

Serve with grated Parmesan cheese for extra cheese flavor.

For bigger pizzas, try using jumbo muffin cups.
