Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 envelope (3/4 ounce) brown-gravy mix
- Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 4 raw medium potatoes, sliced
- 1/3 cup finely shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- Paprika

Step 1
In medium heavy kettle or Dutch oven, cook meat, stirring, until it loses its red color. Add water and bring to boil. Sprinkle in gravy mix and cook, stirring, until thickened. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper and poultry seasoning. Top with a layer of onions and carrots, then season lightly with salt. Top with potatoes, then season lightly with salt. Cover and simmer 45 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. Sprinkle with cheese and paprika; cover until cheese is melted.
