Make my own dinner roll dough instead of using Rhodes. My Favorite Hamburger/Hot Dog Bun Roll dough would be perfect!

Ingredients

  • 12 Rhodes dinner rolls, thawed
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 6 American cheese slices
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Sesame seeds, if desired

Preparation

Step 1

1. Combine ground beef with onion, salt, pepper, chili powder and soy sauce. Mix well and shape into six 3-inch patties. Fry in skillet, turning once, until cooked. Cool on plate covered with paper towel.

2. Combine 2 rolls together and flatten into an 8-inch circle. Place meat pattie in the center of each dough circle. Add a slice of cheese. Pull dough up around pattie to completely enclose. Pinch together to seal.

3. Place seam side down on a large sprayed baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with seeds, if desired. Let rise 15 minutes. Bake at 350°F 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with catsup or chili sauce.
