Ingredients

  • 3-1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Preparation

Step 1

Mix shortening and sugar together. Blend on high for a few minutes to get light and fluffy.

Add remaining ingredients alternating dry with wet.

Roll out fairly thick, cut out with cookie cutters. Bake 400 degrees F. 8-10 minutes.

NOTE: Button shaped cookies can be made by cutting out the dough with a circle (use the op of a juice glass) and then frost with pastel colored frosting (yellow, pink, baby blue). Thread and holes are then pied on in a coordinating color frosting. Very cute for a baby shower.
