Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup minced onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth or bouillon
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons parsley flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Preparation
Step 1
In medium-sized saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; saute for 4 minutes or until golden.
Remove from heat, then add remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Makes about 2-1/4 cups.
Notes:
Use as basting sauce for chicken, pork, fish, or beef.
