Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. bacon, fried and cut into small pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 lbs. ground round beef
  • 1 lb. sirloin, cut 3/4" pieces
  • 3 onions, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 (14 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can red kidney beans, drained
  • 2 (6 oz.)cans tomato paste
  • 2 T. chili powder
  • 1 1/2 t. cayenne red pepper
  • 1 T. ground cumin powder
  • 1 1/2 T. paprika
  • 2 bay leaves
  • dash of Tabasco sauce
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 T. cornstarch to thicken
  • 1 T. brown sugar
  • 1 T. vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Saute garlic, ground beef and sirloin pieces until browned. Add onions and bell pepper. Saute a couple of minutes until onion and green pepper are soft. Stir in bacon, stewed tomatoes, kidney beans and tomato paste. Add remaining ingredients and mix. Cook on low for about 1 hour.
