Braised Round Steak

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. round steak
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 2 large onions, cut into rings
- 1 each red and green pepper, cut into slices
- 3 stalks celery, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
- 1/2 c. red wine
- 1 can (8 oz.) stewed tomatoes
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper

Step 1
Wipe meat with damp paper toweling. In large skillet, brown meat in 1 tbsp. of the heated oil. Remove meat to oiled baking dish. Set aside. In same skillet, saute onions, peppers, celery and garlic in remaining oil for about 5 minutes. Add wine, tomatoes and seasonings. Bring to boil. Pour over meat. Cover and bake at 350° for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Cut into serving pieces and serve immediately.
