Nantucket Blueberry Blocks

To use frozen blueberries, partially defrost and drain well. If very juicy, reduce milk to 3/4 cup.

Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. each salt and ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. each ground nutmeg and cloves
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. melted butter or margarine
- 1 c. fresh blueberries
- powdered sugar, if desired

Step 1
Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and spices. In another bowl, beat egg with milk and melted butter. Combine mixtures, mixing quickly to just moisten dry ingredients. Carefully stir in blueberries. Bake at 375° for 30 to 40 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Cut into 8 to 12 blocks.
