Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 12 tbsp unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1 3/4 c sugar
  • 2 eggs, room temp
  • 4 tbsp red gel food color
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 c milk
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1.5 tsp apple cider vinegar

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Sift together flour, salt, and cocoa powder. Beat butter in mixer until fluffy. Add sugar, beat well. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Add food color and vanilla, mix well. Add flour in 3 parts, alternating with milk. In a small bowl, combine baking soda and vinegar. Let it fizz up. Add to batter, mix until just incorporated.
Scoop into cupcake pan 2/3 full. Bake for 15-18 minutes.
