Ingredients
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 T. sugar
- 1 t. baking powder
- 1/4 t. salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1-1/4 c. milk
- oil for deep frying
- Garnish: powdered sugar
- Optional: apple, cherry or blueberry pie filling

Preparation
Step 1
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a deep bowl. Make a well in the center; add eggs and enough milk to make a thin batter. Mix well. Heat several inches of oil to 375 degrees in a deep saucepan. With fingertip over end of funnel, spoon batter by 1/2 cupfuls into a funnel over hot oil, one at a time, swirling funnel as batter is released. Cook until golden, about 2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar; top with fruit pie filling if desired. Serve immediately.
Makes about 4 servings.
