Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/2 lb bulk Italian pork sausage
  • 1 med onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1 med green bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup finely chopped carrot
  • 1 can (28oz) Progresso crushed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 TBSP packed brown sugar
  • 3 tsps dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 16 oz uncooked spaghetti
  • Shredded Parmesan Cheese, if desired

Preparation

Step 1

1) In 12 inch skillet, cook ground beef and sausage over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked and sausage is no longer pink; drain.
2) In 3 1/2 to 4 quart slow cooker, mix beef mixture and all remaining ingredients except spaghetti and Parmesan cheese.
3) Cover; cook on low setting 8 to 10 hours
4) About 20 minutes before serving, cook spaghetti as directed on package; drain. Serve sauce over cooked spaghetti. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
