  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted if lumpy
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

If you first measure the oil and stir together all the other wet ingredients in your measuring cup, these brownies are easy to put together using only 1 mixing bowl.
Ingredients
Serves: Prep: 10min|Cook: 25min |Total: 35min
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat an 8" x 8" or 9" x 9" baking pan with cooking spray. 2. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. 3. Combine the brown sugar, oil, egg and egg white, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Whisk until smooth. Pour into the flour mixture and stir until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (the batter will be stiff). 4. Spread the batter in a thin layer in the prepared pan. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes or until firm at the edges and a wooden toothpick inserted off center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Place pan on a rack and let cool completely. Cut into 8 bars.
