Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cup all purpose flour or cake flour
- 1 2/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup cocoa
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 1/4 cups milk or buttermilk
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350F. Grease and flour rectanglular pan, or 2 round pans.
Beat all ingredients 30 seconds on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pans.
Bake rectangle 40-45 minutes
Bake 9" round pans 30-35 minutes
Cool on wire rack.
