Sugar Cookies (Cut Out)

Ingredients
- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1/2 t. almond extract
- 1-1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 1 t. cream of tartar
- 1 t. baking soda
- 2-1/2 c. all-purpose flour

Preparation
Step 1
Beat margarine at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; add egg, vanilla and almond extract, beating well. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating well. Gradually add cream of tartar and baking soda, beating well after each addition.
Chill dough 2 to 3 hours.
Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut out cookies with a cookie cutter and place on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool completely on wire racks.
Dough can be prepared the day before and stored in the refrigerator in a bowl covered with a towel.
