Ingredients
- Pastry:
- 3 Cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 Cup shortening
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 Cup milk
- Filling:
- 6 Cups peeled, sliced apples
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 1/4 C butter or margarine, melted
- 2 T flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Glaze:
- 1 egg white, lightly beaten
- 1/2 C p. sugar
- 2-3 t water
- or
- cream cheese frosting

Step 1
Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until coarse crumbs. Combine egg yolk and milk;; add to flour mixture. Stir just until dough clings together. Divide dough in half. Roll half (or press 1/2) into a 15 X 10 in pan. Set aside.
Toss together filling ingredients; spoon over pastry in pan.
Roll out remaining 1/2 of dough between 2 sheets of wax paper. Remove one sheet paper and place over filling. Remove top paper. Brush with egg white. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
Combine frosting ingredients and drizzle over top. (Can use cream cheese frosting- preferable!!)
