Ingredients
- 4 pounds lean beef short ribs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Trim excess fat from ribs; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place ribs on lightly greased rack in broiler pan. Bake at 475 degrees for 30 minutes. Place ribs in lightly greased 4-quart slow cooker.
Whisk together tomato sauce and next 8 ingredients in small bowl; pour over ribs.
Cover and cook on LOW setting 9 hours. Skim excess fat from ribs before serving.
Notes:
These beef short ribs cook slow, and are they ever easy and lip-smackin' good! I bake 'em first to bring out their flavor. Degrease the flavorful juices left in the slow cooker and enjoy the home-cooked goodness of those juices over mashed potatoes or rice.
