  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 3 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup + splash milk
  • 1/6 cup buttermilk
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cinnamon

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. Combine milk and buttermilk. Add dry and wet ingredients, alternating, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until well combined and smooth but do not overmix. [This batter can be refrigerated in air tight container for 3 days or frozen for 1 month.]
Scoop 1/4 cupfuls into each cup of greased muffin tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
When just cool enough to handle, dip into melted butter and roll in sugar mixed with cinnamon.
