Ingredients
- 1/4 c. cocoa powder (for dusting)
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 c. Sam Adams or other cream stout or Honey Porter
- chocolate frosting
- 2/3 c. Dutch process dark cocoa powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. unbleached flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda, sifted
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. sour cream

Step 1
Heat oven to 350. Lightly dust 2 greased 8" springform pans w/ cocoa powder. In a heavy saucepan or microwave, heat butter, beer, & cocoa powder till butter melts. Let cool. Sift dry ingredients together. Add the beer-cocoa mix, beat thoroughly 1 min. on med. spped. Add eggs & sour cream & beat 2 min. more. Pour batter into pans & bake 25-30 mins. Insert toothpick / check to make sure it comes out clean. Cool 10 mins. Remove sides, cool completely. Use long, serrated knife to cut even tops. Spread each layer w/ thin coating of frosting, stack.
