Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 1 cup guiness stout or murphy's stout
  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 tbsp dark unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 lg eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350*
Butter a 9 inch springform pan and line with parchment paper
Heat stout and butter in lg saucepan over med low heat; remove from heat
Whisk in cocoa and sugar
Combine sour cream, eggs and vanilla; whisk into cocoa mixture
Whisk in flour, baking soda and salt
Pour into pan. Bake 45 min or until cake is firm
Cool completely
Remove from pan and spread frosting on top only

Frosting:

8oz cream cheese softened
3 tbsp butter softened
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp heaving whipping cream

beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add sugar until just mixed. beat in whipping cream and vanilla until smooth. refridgerate for 1 hour before spreading on cake.

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
