Preparation

Step 1

Heat pan on medium low. Cut several slits throughout briscuit deep enough to put pieces of garlic inside, use both cloves of garlic. Sprinkle briscuit with fresh ground black pepper, and paprika. Place briscuit in preheated pan, fat side up for a few minutes, until other side is just starting to brown. Turn briscuit over fat side down, put 1 package of lipton onion soup mix on top of briscuit, trying not to spill any in the pan. Then put 1 stick of butter on top as well as the whole onion. You may need to slice onion in 1/2 if pan isn't deep enough and lid doesn't fit securely. Turn heat to medium low. You should check it every 1/2 hour or so to make sure it isnt sticking. After about 1 and 1/2 hours you can move onion from the top of the briscuit into the pan so it makes water for the briscuit, this will also start to make a nice gravy with the butter, and soup mix. If you do need to add water it should only be in the 1st hour or so, make sure it is only a few tbls at a time, so not to dilute the gravy. Every so often take a fork and spin the briscuit around in the pan, this keeps it juicy, and also keeps it from sticking to the pan. If you baby this, and let it really cook slow it will come out unbelievably tender! About 4 to 5 hrs total, and worth it!
