Chocolate Chip Cookies

When I was a military wife and the men went away on exercise, the women would get together and cook. We would have a week making cookies and choosing the best ones. My cookie recipes are the result of tried and true recipes, judged the best by the children we make them for.

Ingredients

• 1 cup soft shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 tsp. vanilla
• 2 cups flour
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1 small package chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place shortening, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in a bowl and beat until fluffy.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the shortening mixture and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips and mix.

Drop onto a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
