Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pitted fresh cherries (about 8)
  • 6 TB whole grain or Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp expeller-pressed canola oil
  • 1 red onion, thickly sliced, rounds intact
  • 2 lbs. ground beef, made into 4 patties
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns, toasted on grill
  • 4 leaves Bibb or romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup Blue Cheese Crumbles

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Combine cherries and mustard in a bowl; set aside. Brush oil on onion slices and then season burgers and onions with salt and pepper. Grill all, flipping once, until onions are tender and burgers are cooked to your liking, about 10 minutes. Spread mustard on bottom buns; top with lettuce, onions, burgers and blue cheese. Top with buns and serve.
