WAFFLES - WITH CHOCOLATE MALTED SYRUP

Ingredients
- 2 C. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 C. sugar
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 3/4 C. milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 4 T. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 oz. semisweet chocolate. grated
- 1 C. heavy cream
- 1/2 C. malted milk powder
- 4 oz. semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- Whipped cream for serving

Step 1
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Preheat waffle maker on medium-high heat according to manufacturer's instructions.
In large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add eggs, milk. vanilla and butter; whisk until smooth. Whisk in grated chocolate.
In small saucepan over medium heat. warm cream until small bubbles form around edges of pan. Remove from heat; whisk in malted milk powder and chopped chocolate until chocolate is melted and powder is dissolved. Keep syrup warm.
Pour about 1/3 C. batter into each well of waffle maker. Close lid; cook waffles until golden and crispy, 5-7 minutes. Transfer waffles to baking sheet; keep warm in oven while cooking remaining waffles. Serve with chocolate malted syrup and whipped cream.
