Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 C. warm water (100 degrees)
  • 2 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 2 T. unsalted butter
  • 1/4 C. warm milk (100 degrees)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/3 C. unsalted butter

Preparation

Step 1

1. Dissolve dry yeast in warm water. Combine flour, salt and sugar. Add the dissolved yeast, 2 T. unsalted butter, warm milk (100°) and 1 beaten egg. Mix these and knead for 10 min. Place in bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place until double (1 1/2hrs.).

2. Melt 1/3 cup unsalted butter. Punch dough down and form into two 10" long rolls. Cut each roll into 10 pieces and flatten into rounds. Using 8 pieces, dip each in the melted butter and place in the mold in a vertical and overlapping row around the sides, then above this row add a second overlapping row of the remaining 12 pieces. Press against rile sides, leaving center empty. Cover and let rise for 20-30 min.

3. Bake in 350° oven for 40-45 min. until golden let rest for 2-3 min. and unmold.
