Ingredients
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) sugar
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) kosher salt
- 2 tbsp (25 mL) coarsely ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) cinnamon
- 1 cup (250 mL) pecans

Step 1
1. Combine the sugar, salt, pepper and cinnamon. Heat a heavy skillet(preferably cast iron)over high heat.
2. Add pecans and toss for 1 minute. Sprinkle the nuts with half of the spice mixture and shake the pan vigorously until the sugar melts, about another minute.
3. Add remaining mixture and continue shaking the pan until the sugar melts again and coats the nuts. Immediately turn the nuts out onto a baking sheet.
4. When they are cool enough to handle, separate the nuts with your fingers.
5. Let cool completely before storing in a tightly sealed, sterile jar.
