Ingredients
- 16 cups tomatoes
- 12 ounces jalapeno peppers
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup salt
- 4 cups coarsely chopped onion
- 5 cups coarsely chopped green pepper
- 2 1/2 cups vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. finely chopped garlic
- 1 Tbsp. black pepper
- 2 Tbsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. powdered alum
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste

Step 1
Cook uncovered for 1 ½ hours, add the tomato paste during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Put into jars and seal. If you want a milder sauce, reduce the amount of jalapeno peppers.
