Mom's Chili

This is my version of my dad's chili. The new Chrapliwy's version.
Without the beans it makes great chili for chili dogs.
I like add some of the chili powder and some taco seasonings when browning the beef. Adjust the seasonings and the consistency to your taste.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef, ground for chili
- 1 onion - chopped
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (14 ounce) can of beef broth
- 1 large can of whole tomatoes
- 2 cups water
- 4 T. Taco Seasonings (I use the large container from Costco)
- 1/2 cup chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1 large can of chili beans
- 1 can of kidney beans
- 1 can of pinto beans
- 2 tablespoons masa harina flour (optional)
- 1/4 cup hot water

Preparation
Step 1
1 saute onions till soft then add garlic, saute till soft add beef and brown with 2 tablespoons of taco seasonings and 1 T. chili powder,drain.
2 Add tomato sauce, beef broth and simmer 1 hour
3 add remaining ingredients cover and simmer stirring occasionally.
Optional
4 Dissolve 2 tablespoons masa into 1/4 cup hot water to make a thick, but flowable mixture.
5 Add masa mixture to chili. 6 Cover and simmer another 15-20 minutes.
Note:
if you leave out all the beans it makes a great chili for hot dogs
