Ingredients
- 2 C. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 oz. cold unsalted butter
- 1 C. raisins or mini chocolate chips
- 2 T. sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 3/4 C. buttermilk

Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. In a bowl combine flour, 2 baking powder, baking soda, ground nutmeg, salt and mix well. Cube 4 oz. cold unsalted butter and work in with fingers until pea sized pieces form. Stir in raisins and sugar. Whisk together egg yolk and buttermilk and stir into mixture.
3. Turn out dough on floured surface and knead 10-12 times. Cut in half and pat each half into a 5" circle, slice circle into 6 wedges. Transfer wedges in a circle to ungreased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 375° oven for 18-22 min. until lightly browned.
