Ingredients

  • 1 4-lb boneless beef sirloin or rolled rump roast
  • 1 (.7-oz) package Italian salad dressing mix
  • 2 tsp dried Italian seasoning, crushed
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 10 to 12 kaiser rolls or French-style rolls, split
  • Roasted red sweet peppers, cut into strips (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Trim fat from meat. cut meat into 2-to 3-inch pieces. Place meat in a 3 1/2- to 5-quart slow cooker. In a small bowl combine 1 cup water, dressing mix, Italian seasoning, red pepepr, and garlic powder. Pour mixture over meat.

2. cover; cook on low-heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or on high-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours.

3. Using a slotted spoon, transfer meat to a cutting board. Using 2 forks, shred the meat. Place meat on rolls. Lightly drizzle some of the cooking juices over meat. If desired, top with roasted red peper strips.
