Ingredients

  • 5-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 sleeves round buttery crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 c. plus 3 Tb. butter, melted
  • 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 10 3/4-oz. can Cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 3 Golden Delicious apples, cored and sliced

Preparation

Step 1

Place chicken in a large pot of boiling water. Cook for 8-10 minutes; set aside. Combine crumbs with 1/2 c. butter; mix thoroughly. Add remaining butter to a saucepan; stir in flour and cook about one minute, stirring often. Add milk, soup and cheese; stir to blend until cheese is melted. Place chicken in a greased 13x9" baking pan. Cover chicken with cheese sauce, top with sliced apples and sprinkle with cracker mixture. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Makes 6 serving.
